Where: Moving furniture from Public Storage at 1751

Old Meadow Road, McLean beginning at 11 A.M. to

The Montessori School* and ending by 5 P.M.

*(Please don't come to Montessori before 12:30 p.m.)

Food and refreshments will be provided

Wesley Brandt Eagle Project ACUMC Rt. 

7-Side Entrance Landscaping

Goal: Enhance the appearance of a very widely used church entrance and provide a place for people to sit while waiting for pick up near the parking lot. This is the first thing a lot of people see as they enter the church, and a good first impression goes a long way. Also, for those waiting for a ride, a place to sit outside will be very helpful and convenient.

Proposal:

1. To re-direct water from the roof of the church away from the grass adjacent to the Rt. 7-Side entrance.

a. An 8-inch deep trench will be dug about 20-30 feet long parallel to the path going down the stairs

b. An equally long line of black tube 4 inches in diameter will be placed in the trench and re-covered

c. Attach the black tube to the gutter system from the roof to collect that water and redirect it

2. Plant a garden to beautify and soak up any excess water in that area

a. Some plants purchased and some plants will be relocated from other parts of the church as per Katy Page's suggestion

3. Build a bench to go in the middle of the garden

a. Bench will be identical to those across the parking lot 

Project date: Saturday November 8, 2008 from 9:00-5:00

Crew Chiefs: 1. Mitchell Brandt, 2. Rob Jarvis

Crews: 1. Digging trench, removing grass where garden will be. 2. Building bench, planting garden.

Materials list:

-Mulch (bought)

-Perennial Grasses: Variegated and Ribbon (some transplanted some bought)

•Wood needed for bench (bought)

•Shovels (volunteers will be asked to help provide)

•Black tube (Scott Jenkins donating)
